Turning on the turntable for beginners

Learn pottery in Zurich – ideal for beginners. In our hands-on course, you will receive a complete introduction to the art of turning on the wheel – plus all the steps that will lead you to working independently.

At a glance

• Choose 4 dates (basic) or 6 dates (intensive, incl. 2 additional turntable sessions)
• Each session approx. 2.5 hours
• Approx. 2 self-made objects per potter’s wheel session, which you fire up later
• Clay, glazes & firing costs are included in the price – no additional costs
• Dates can be combined individually
• Finished works ready for collection after approx. 3-6 weeks
• Afterwards you have the opportunity to use our studio as a member

Course content & procedure

1. Date: Turning on the turntable – introduction, cylinder as a basic shape (basis for bowls & closed shapes)
2. Appointment: Turning on the turntable – deepening & shape variants
3. Appointment: Turning on the turntable (optional) – further practice (included in 6-date package)
4. Appointment: Turning on the turntable (optional) – further practice (included in 6-date package)
5. Appointment: Turning – refining the shape & foot
6. Appointment: Glazing – color & surface finish with high-fire glazes

Prices (CHF)

• 4 sessions: 140.- per session → 560.- in total (≈ 8 hours course time)
• 6 sessions: 135.- per session → 810.- total (≈ 12 hours course time)

Included in the price: Clay, glazes, firing costs, aprons.
